I hold a different view ...|
Noise - FOA, I must say I think too many people are unwilling to accept that there will always be a trade off of noise vs MP, as of today's APS-C sized sensor, the Nikon D2H exhibit the cleanest High ISO ( without details lost ) but its working at 4MP. So the matter is how to deal with noise at High ISO. I believe the matter is only there when people fail to relaize the High ISO, be it film or digital simply demand a different mode of operation. Shoot RAW, and use the software with prudent care to develop. Shoot with SR, and fast lens ( and if possible use as low ISO as possible ). In a word, the issue about noise is only there when peole fail to see the limitation adn simply ask the machine to perform what it cannot ( shoot handheld, using zoom, high ISO and too lazy to spend the time working in RAW & noise reduction software )
If people are just wanting to post, then there's no reason what so ever for them to even look at the 10MP bodies. As said, the 6MP is good enough. But what people do not reealize is that we are not trying to get more resolution on an image with the 10MP, but to get more data captured per scene on the image, thus allowing to work with ( digital darkrooming ) and print.
Working with 6MP only and aim to print A3 with correction to say simple horizon ( some rotation correction ) , some crop to fill Bleeding or border, and alike. and one very soon see why 6MP is not enough. 10MP is only a start if one need to print and do their own photogrphy and pictures ( instead of the camera and labs ) So I am all for it.
In the end, the fact is does the High ISO - in camera JPEG - Zoom - Handheld combination is what you need or even partially. If it is, then one have to just bit the dust and held on, cause no DSLR of today can satisfy you. In fact, all DSLR of today do not exhibit clean image at ISO 800 or higher ... much like High ISO film will have grain. High ISO digital capture will have noise !!
